This site should work for everybody who wants to hire a contractor in Maine, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard on its own, magnification, or voice control.

If some part of it does not work for you, tell me and I will fix it. That request always beats a policy page.

What are we aiming for?

The standard being worked toward is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, at level AA. It is the benchmark most public bodies and most reputable private sites use.

Working toward a standard is not the same as being certified against it, and this page will not pretend otherwise.

Has this site been audited?

No. There has been no formal, independent accessibility audit of this site, and no third party has certified it against WCAG.

What has been done is ordinary care during the build: real headings in order, text that resizes, colour contrast checked against the guideline ratios, alternative text on images that carry meaning, forms with labels attached to their fields, and a layout that works at a phone width without horizontal scrolling.

That is a reasonable starting position. It is not a guarantee, and an honest page says so.

What do we already know is not right?

A few things are known gaps rather than surprises.

Some images have no alternative text yet, because the site's photography is still being produced. Decorative images are correctly hidden from screen readers; a photograph that carries information should have a description and not all of them do yet.

The interactive map on service-area pages is a visual component. Every town it shows is also a plain text link in the list beside it, so no information exists only inside the map.

Third-party embeds, including the map frames, are not under my control and may not meet the same standard as the rest of the page.

PDF documents sent during a project are produced by contractors and by me, and they have not been checked for accessibility. Ask and you will get the same content in an accessible format.

How do you report a problem?

Email seth@sethshomepros.com or call 207-707-6337 and describe what happened. The useful details are the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what your device or assistive technology did instead. A screenshot helps and is not required.

You will not be asked to prove a disability, explain a diagnosis, or justify the request.

I aim to reply within two business days. Straightforward fixes usually happen in the same week. Anything larger gets a plain answer about what it involves and roughly when.

What happens while a fix is pending?

You get the information another way. Everything on this site is also available by phone, and I will read out a cost range, walk through a page, or take your project details over a call rather than making you fight with a page that is not working.

Nothing on this site is behind a form. There is no login, no gate and no download that has to be completed before you can get an answer.

Is there anything this page does not cover?

Yes, and it is worth being clear about it.

This statement covers this website. It does not cover the premises, vehicles, or working practices of the independent contractors introduced through it. Those are separate businesses and their obligations are their own.

It also does not cover third-party sites this one links to, including town code offices and the Maine Attorney General.

Who do you talk to if the response is not good enough?

Start with me, because that is usually the fastest route.

If it is not resolved and you believe your rights have been affected, you may wish to speak to an attorney, or to contact the appropriate state or federal body. This page is general information and not legal advice.
