That is the whole story of this project type. Most of the money is spent before the room starts looking like a room.

Why does water come before framing?

This is the rule that separates a basement that lasts from one that has to be torn out in six years.

Find out where the water goes before you design anything. Not whether the floor has ever been wet, but where water arrives from and where it currently leaves. Every Maine basement is managing water. The finished ones are just managing it deliberately.
